The only good reason to know how to solve the Rubix Cube is to impress people at parties... for the most part that is true. Unless you are just really board and need something to occupy time. Either way, here is a step-by-step process in normal terms on how to solve the 3x3x3 standard cube. You don't have to be smarter than anyone else to solve it. Most people can or could solve it with just a little practice. Being able to recognize patterns is key to solving it fast. However, just solving it requires only a little memorization. Here we go...
Here is a basic Rubix Cube solved.
Step 1.
Scramble your cube. Many people think that they have to "mix it up really well to make it harder." Once you have a just a few peices mixed up, its just as hard as it would be if it was mixed up "really well". So let your friends mix it up to their hearts content. (for added amazment)
Step 2. Top Cross
Choose a color you'd like to start with. It will be easier (by a few seconds) if you choose a color that already might have a few colors aligned with the middle color. Example:
In my case I've chosen white. Notice thetwo white squares touching. Very important that they are on
the right side and look like this. (below) so twist the top around until it aligns with its corresponding color.
Do you see how the white / blue peice is aligned with the blue blue middle facing you? that is how we are going to start. We need to make a cross on the top of the cube.
Now find the other white edge pieces on the cube and bring them around so they fit into the right spot. Please see video.
